Once a booming mining camp, Crested Butte evolved into a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. In 1961, Dick Eflin and Fred Rice founded Crested Butte Mountain Resort, now celebrated for its challenging terrain and authentic small-town charm, earning it the title The Last Great Colorado Ski Town. In the 1970s, locals helped shape the sport of mountain biking, repurposing old cruiser bikes to explore the rugged backcountry.

Every summer, Crested Butte bursts into color during the annual Wildflower Festival, celebrating the thousands of blooms that blanket its valleys and alpine meadows. It’s also home to award-winning Montanya Rum, recognized globally for its craft distilling. With its vibrant history and stunning natural beauty, Crested Butte offers a unique blend of adventure and heritage in the American West, a place like no other.
